Hey,

Great pics. What cable did you use to hook the ipod up to the CD changer connector on the back of the head unit? Can you provide more details on the steps you took?

Thanks and awesome work!

I didnt use this company but they also make good ipod adapters... http://www.icarkits.com/advanced_search_result.php?set_questions=1&sort=4d&search_question[15]=33

get the one that says connects to radio... You basically lose your trunk CD player (if you have one) because the ipod adapter uses that slot to play the music digitally from your ipod while charging it at the same time.

Which brand did you use?

And where did you get the things to remove the head unit from the jetta?

To remove the radio you need this...  http://www.42draftdesigns.com/categories/products/radiokeys.htm

Get this brand: Peripheral  http://www.icarkits.com/product_info.php?products_id=95 or http://www.crutchfield.com/g_305250/iPod-Adapters-for-Car-Stereos.html?tp=120

To clear things up:
    *  Single DIN keys Are for small radio (about 2")
    * Double DIN keys Are for radio's like mine in the pic above (the large unit)

Oh btw... are there any special instructions removing the head unit? Or do I just get the keys and remove it that way?

Thanks again

Oh by the way you dont have to remove the glove box like i did... I took the ipod out of the glove box i just leave the cable coming out from behind the radio going around to the fron now. (You can see what im talking about in the video)  Here is a link to buy the keys: http://www.42draftdesigns.com/categories/products/radiokeys.htm

I got a usa spec df-vw model one but it connects the the cd changer in the back. Thats the type of connector. Is it possible to cut the connector in the back where the cd changer, cut the cable coming out of the back of the head unit, match the cables up together and then plug my device in? Or is there something in between that I should know about first.

Thanks!

You dont need to do that! mine has the CD changer in the back too... The wire from the CD changer in the back connects to radio in the front. The ipod connection connects takes over the CD changer connection in the back of the radio.
